Get Ready for the Holiday Spirit Chagrin Falls!

Meet Jane Radis from Stitchery by the Shore...

I’m a retired nurse, proud mom of four, and grandma to seven wonderful grandchildren. After 33 years of raising my children and stepping away from a fulfilling career in nursing, I found myself with an empty nest—and a bit of quiet time. That’s when I discovered a creative spark within, and the beautiful, time-honored art of hand embroidery.

What started as a hobby quickly became a passion—something I truly look forward to whenever I have a moment to myself. I soon realized how difficult it was to find embroidery designs I’d actually want to frame and display in my home, so I began sketching my own. My very first piece was a Halloween “Trick or Treat” design, drawn directly onto fabric.

That small creative spark grew into an idea: to start a little business for my retirement years and share my love for this often-overlooked art form. And so, Stitchery by the Shore was born—a collection of embroidery patterns inspired by the seasons and the simple joys of everyday life.

While I dabbled in cross-stitch and needlepoint in my younger years, I truly discovered hand embroidery about six years ago—and I’ve been passionate about it ever since. This will be my first time participating in a Avant Garde Show, and I’m so excited to be part of it!

I’m deeply inspired by the changing seasons, the beauty of our lakeside retirement home in Vermilion, the colors in nature, gardens, holidays, childhood memories, and the quiet, everyday moments that make life meaningful.

Discovering my talent was an accident—I stitched a sweet piece for my first granddaughter and fell in love with the process. Learning the stitches and seeing the design come to life was so enjoyable, I was immediately hooked. As I stitched, I found ideas constantly flowing—more than I could possibly keep up with. The more I created, the more I realized how naturally the designs and inspiration came to me.

Inspiration usually strikes when I least expect it—a bird perched on a branch, a vibrant bouquet of flowers, a cheerful piece of wallpaper or a beautifully designed gift bag, or even a charming holiday decoration. When something catches my eye, I start sketching ideas and playing around with shapes and layouts. Once I’m happy with the design, I begin the process of digitizing it. From there, I gather thread options and experiment with color combinations. Once the design is transferred to fabric, I simply begin stitching—deciding on stitch types intuitively as I go. It’s a very organic, joyful process.

My dream is to cultivate stitching communities—spaces where women can come together to stitch, share stories, nurture creativity, and build lasting friendships.

I believe we all carry a creative spark inside us, but it often gets lost in the busyness of life. Anyone can do hand embroidery! My hope is that my work inspires others to slow down, rediscover their creativity, and find joy in making something beautiful by hand. Nurturing creativity, no matter how small, can be a powerful source of fulfillment.

Meet Sarah Bullington from Busy Bee Artistry...

My name is Sarah Bullington, I am a jewelry artist from Medina Ohio. I am completely blind, and God has gifted me with the ability to make jewelry. My hands are my eyes and my imagination is my vision

I have been making jewelry on and off since I was a small child, and over the last 15 years I have been focusing more on my art and building my skills. I am proud to say this is my third year selling at the Avant-Garde Art & Craft Shows.

I create to bring out the visions I keep in my mind. I love to use my imagination of the visual world around me to create something that I can see. My Papa got me into the craft hobby as a small child. He kept me busy with crafting, especially after I lost my sight at the age of three.

I discovered my talent when I found out there was more to jewelry making than just kids crafting, from the discovery of “adult beads” made from gemstones, crystals and Czech glass, and the numerous techniques I can learn, and I started taking classes and found out which techniques I best work in.

I find inspiration from the world around me, from taking a walk outside listening to birds, listening to the leaves in the wind, feeling and smelling flowers and hugging trees. Then I find the right materials to bring my vision into a physical form and decide which techniques would work best for the process. I attend a weekly jewelry class at the Chagrin Falls Valley Art Center to make sure the colors I choose match with what I am looking for.

I see myself in the next five years growing my line of jewelry to include other artwork both wearable and for the home, selling in local stores, galleries, online and shows.

My message behind my work is to spread hope, love, peace, and joy by showing how despite my disability that through God nothing is impossible.

Meet Abby from Starlight Grove Studios...

Abby has been taking photographs since she first picked up a film camera in highschool. Her work has always been influenced by nature.

She been drawn to the natural world as a subject, using it as a canvas for experimentation and investigation. In addition, she is drawn to photography because it allows us to capture moments in our lives, but it also allowed us to manipulate, create, and imgaine.

In 2024, Abby began creating wooden and acrylic rings to compliment all of the photos of trees. Abby has a BA in Studio Art from Carleton College and is based in Cleveland, Ohio. She lives with her two dogs, Bailey and Willow.

I have been taking photos since high school and I added in woodworking in 2024. I have participated in two Avant Garde shows so far - The Spring Solon show and the Summer by the Lake Willoughby show and hoping to do many more in 2026!

The natural world inspires me to create. I started taking black and white film photographs in high school and I fell in love with the process of working in the darkroom. I also enjoy digital photography, but the film process is what started my love - watching a photo appear on the paper as you put it in the developer is always a fun surprise

In five years, I hope to be doing photography full time as a product photographer and continuing to do shows! The message behind my work is There is magic in everyday things, you just might need to look at it in a new light or in a new way to see it.

Calling Chagrin Falls Creatives!

Meet Katie Wilson from Self Infuse...

My name is Katie, and I have been an entrepreneur for most of my life. I have a pet monkey and a dog, and I’m passionate about everything I do.

I’ve been officially doing this for five years, and this will be my first Avant-Garde show. I enjoy what I do and the happy faces it brings people when they buy my products.

I’ve always been the person to want to make something. I kept trying different things until I found the niche that makes me thrive. I discovered my talent by seeing things advertised or watching someone else do it and saying, “Hey, I’m sure there’s something on YouTube that I can learn from and do it myself.” I believe that if you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything your heart desires.

My creative process is like baking and making a science experiment at the same time. There’s a lot of mixing, temp control, strategy, and a little bit of math.

In five years, I see myself in my own brick & mortar, teaching my craft to others.

At Self Infuse, our products are handmade with all natural ingredients. Our goal is to make you feel happy, feel relief, and benefit from what we have to offer—whether it’s CBD, candles, or bath and body. We have something for everyone!

Meet Sara Holbrook from Sara Sew-and-Sew...
I am a children’s poet/author and sewist. My career has taken me to 65 countries over the years, where I have collected fabulous fabrics that I combine with high-quality thrifted garments to make one-of-a-kind pieces of clothing—quilted hoodies, jackets, cropped shirts, sweatshirt combos, and boho/hobo bags. (www.saraholbrook.com)

I’ve been doing this for about a year and a half, and this will be my first Avant-Garde Art & Craft Show!

As Emily Dickinson would say, “I dwell in possibility.” I see possibility in everything, plus I am committed to helping save usable fabrics from the landfill. For years, I’ve had kids ask me at school visits what I would be if I weren’t a poet, and I always answered that I would sew. And here I am.

Truthfully, I got back into sewing seriously during the pandemic when I deconstructed a Vietnamese pollution mask and used it as a pattern to make over 1,000 masks.

As in any craft—writing or sewing—you have to put the time in to perfect your skills. Part of it is an eye for color and a certain amount of risk-taking. I also have a granddaughter and a daughter-in-law who let me know what is cool.

In five years, I see myself happily sewing and listening to music in my office/sewing room and sharing my creations with happy customers.

The message behind my work is simple but powerful. My clothing tag reads: Wrapped in Love — love the planet, love yourself. I truly believe when we act to preserve our environment, we are loving ourselves.

Meet Neville Lacey from The Lacey & Lacey Collection...
We are thrilled to participate in the Avant-Garde Art & Craft Show, marking our very first event with this agency.

The Lacey & Lacey Collection was founded in 2005 by Neville and Regina Lacey. Our journey began on a Saturday night, which ignited a passionate flame and inspired us to create a collection that reflects our love story.

As a small-town couple, we wanted to elevate our love for candle-making beyond sharing our creations with just family and friends. Our candles are hand-poured and presented in beautiful, repurposed vessels.

We use only premium ingredients, including high-quality waxes, fragrance oils, vessels, and wicks. Each candle is designed to provide an aromatic scent that elevates your atmosphere, infusing luxury and sophistication to any setting.
Enhance your mood and home décor with our selection of elegant glass vessels. Our carefully crafted fragrances will transport you on an adventurous journey, evoking cherished memories that last a lifetime. We pour our passion into every candle we create.

Meet Kayla Panchik from Sit 'N Shake Dog Bakery...
I am a dog mom who is not only passionate about my dogs, but literally all dogs. I think every dog deserves the best life possible. I have a passion for wanting to help as many dogs live their best life as I possibly can.

I’ve been baking dog treats and thinking about turning it into a business for about a year. I finally decided to go for it and officially create the business about a month ago. I had planned to launch online first, but when I saw this show, I really wanted to be a part of it.

This is my very first Avant-Garde Art & Craft Show and I’m so excited! I already have my eyes on a few more I would like to attend this year.

What inspires me to create is ensuring my pups (and your pups) truly live their best lives—and that starts with making sure their food and treats are as high-quality as possible.

My Bernese Mountain Dog, Teddy, really struggled with stomach issues when he was a puppy. We tried everything and eventually learned he had trouble digesting protein like a normal dog could. After countless ER visits and a prescription diet, I realized how important it was to know exactly what was in his treats. So, I started making them myself. My dogs absolutely loved them, and I knew I wanted to share that joy with other pups.

Giving back is also a huge part of my mission. I want to help less fortunate dogs enjoy life a little more, which is why a portion of every sale goes to shelters and service dog organizations.

I've always had a creative side, but I don't really get to use it much in my daily work as an accountant. Once I had the idea for this business, that creative energy started flowing—and it’s been so much fun. From designing treat decorations to planning out the presentation, it's brought me real joy.

My creative process usually starts by figuring out a theme or shape for the treats. Once I have that, I brainstorm ways to bring it to life through decoration and just let the creativity take over. I’m still fairly new to all of this, so I’m learning something new every time I bake.

In five years, I hope we’ve grown into a thriving business with many happy customers—both two- and four-legged. Most importantly, I hope we’ve made a real impact by supporting shelters and service dog organizations through our contributions.

At Sit 'N Shake Dog Bakery, we believe every dog deserves love, nourishment, and a chance at a happy life. That's why we create wholesome, all-natural, homemade treats using high-quality ingredients—because our furry friends deserve the best. But we don’t stop there. We’re on a mission to be part of something bigger.

A portion of every purchase goes toward supporting shelters, rescues, charities, and service animal foundations. Whether through donations or by sending supplies, we are here to help as many dogs as we can receive the love and life they truly deserve.

Meet Gary Rihn from 75ALOFT Creative Turnings...
I'm a retired US Air Force/Air National Guard veteran, along with 32 years at a major airline (I was not a pilot at either job ironically). I have been woodworking my entire life, but only got into making pens after retiring from my airline job.
We live on a farm and I have a nice shop here. Some of the wood that I use actually comes from our property. Beyond that, I use a variety of other woods, epoxies and resins for the blanks that I turn on my lathe.

I create custom pens, wine bottle stoppers, key chains, and other small functional items. A lot of the time, the wood or epoxy tells me what shape it wants to take as I turn it and expose the grain or hidden patterns.

I'll head out to the shop in the evening, turn on some music, and just spend hours in front of the lathe, allowing things to happen. It's cheaper than going to therapy, and more fun.

Meet Catherine Casey from Agate & Rose Co...
Part-time, I’m the owner and designer behind Agate & Rose Co., and full-time, I work for a hospice company here in Cleveland. In my downtime, you’ll usually find me thrifting, exploring new corners of the city, or relaxing at home with friends and family. I’ve always had a soft spot for nature—especially flowers and birds—and you’ll see those influences woven throughout my work.

I launched Agate & Rose Co. on Etsy back in 2021, and while it was a great experience, I closed the shop in 2024 due to some ethical concerns with the platform. From there, I pivoted toward participating in vendor shows—and honestly, I found something I didn’t know I was missing. The personal, face-to-face moments with customers who fall in love with a piece in real time? That’s what it’s all about.

This will be my first Avant-Garde Art & Craft Show, and I’m really looking forward to connecting with attendees and fellow local artists!

My pieces are inspired by the vibrant landscapes of the Southwest and the deep-rooted traditions of folk art. I strive to capture the beauty of the natural world while creating designs that evoke a strong sense of heritage and identity.

Art has always been my language. It’s how I process the world and express myself when words fall short. From my earliest days as a kid sketching and creating, to experimenting with fiber and beadwork as an adult, it’s always brought me a sense of joy and fulfillment. I’ve been lucky to have a strong support system—especially my mom and my best friend Emily—cheering me on every step of the way.

Inspiration usually strikes through color, shapes, or a gemstone that I can’t stop thinking about. For more complex patterns, I map things out on graph paper—there’s a lot of trial and error involved! I’ll often create multiple versions before I land on something that feels just right. A true sign that I’ve nailed the design? I want to keep it for myself.

Over the next five years, I plan to continue doing vendor shows to keep that strong connection with the community. I’m also hoping to get my work into local shops and boutiques, and I’m currently exploring the idea of launching my own website to grow my online presence.

At the heart of my brand is empowerment through self-expression. I create pieces to help women feel bold and confident—whether that’s by embracing their personal style or stepping out of their comfort zones. When someone tells me they love a pair of earrings but think they’re “too [this] or [that]” to wear them, I always challenge that. Life’s too short not to wear the things that make you feel good.

Chagrin Falls Eclectic Talent!

Meet Annette Brag from Just Soap...
I have always like to make crafts and enjoy making soaps as a hobby. I have been making soaps for about a year now

This is my first Avant-Garde show and I am looking forward to it! I like learning new things - it challenges me and I enjoy the unlimited blending of colors, scents and shapes when it comes to making soap.
For some reason I have always wanted to learn to make soap. I have made my own laundry detergent for years and thought it would be fun to make my own hand soap as well.

I'm a Libra - apparently it's a requirement to be artistic and creative for your entire life! lol.
You can view more of my work at - https://www.facebook.com/annettebragg2016/

Meet Cindy Bloyd from Percy Homestead...
We didn’t foresee our love for honeybees and beekeeping. A few years ago, our son recommended we get some bees. After some long thought and a garden that was suffering from lack of pollination, we decided to give it a try. This opened a world of fascination, learning and challenge! We also have learned that there is a wonderful fellowship of beekeepers that meet regularly and seriously strive to help each other be successful. In addition, we have discovered an amazing excitement and appreciation in the public for honeybees and the products they produce. We love our bees, and love seeing people smile just talking about them and how much they love honey!
Our apiary at Percy Homestead continues to grow as we endeavor to raise healthy and productive colonies that can explore the fruitful landscape around us in Geauga County, Ohio. Honeybees are nothing short of amazing! We love to talk about them and spend time with them. Is it weird that we have two lawn chairs in the bee yard where we sit and sip some honey wine (mead) and just watch our bees work, while we talk about bees? If so, we are weird!

We have been in the business for seven years, but this is actually our first year participating in Avant-Garde Art & Craft Shows.
So often, a comment from a customer sends me on a journey of creating the product they are looking for. Our son had a hive and we were fascinated and decided to start our own 2 colony apiary.  We now have 25 hives and are looking to expand again this year.

Meet Lynne Provance from Provances Pieces...
Lynne Provance, from Bristolville, Ohio, has been an international stained-glass artist since 2005. She has working studios in both Ohio (USA) and Prince Edward Island (Canada) [PEI] and employs exclusively the foiling method (Tiffany style). Window paneled stained glass art became a favorite art medium in which to express
one of her artistic abilities.
She is fascinated by how the light is reflected through the different colors, textures, and opacities of the glass. Light is her canvas. She enjoys both designing and constructing original art pieces & she finds “painting” with the colored glass interesting and challenging.
She provides collaborations in both designing and constructing specialized orders, repair/restoration work, stained glass art classes and "hands on" workshops, offers her patterns for purchase, and showcases her art for sale in select art shows, galleries & festivals in the USA and PEI.

Her work can be viewed on her Facebook Page: Lynne Badger Provance.

Meet Gayle Hammer from Whimsical Wire Gifts...
I have always been creative myself and have loved to purchase colorful artsy products. I just recently decided this past September to become an entrepreneur out of my own need.
As a high school physics teacher, I was always putting my glasses down somewhere, or placing them on top of my head, and the kids in my class were always helping to find them for me. I hunted online for something colorful, handmade and fun to use as an eyeglass strap but found nothing out there.

After recently retiring, I decided to be creative and design my own whimsical, one-of-a-kind, colorful aluminum wire eyeglass chains so that I never misplace my reading glasses or sunglasses again!
Based on suggestions of customers at my first Avant-Garde show in December, I have also created lanyard chains, necklaces, and earrings to match the colors and designs of many of the eyeglass chains that you see at my booth and on my Etsy site(
etsy.com/shop/WhimsicalWireGifts).

I really look forward to watching my business grow and to expand my products based on the needs of my customers.

I hope you find a design that represents your personality and enjoy wearing your purchase as much as I loved making it for you.

Meet Marianne Carroll from M|C Pottery Studio...
I am a ceramic artist in Chagrin Falls inspired by Nature and its beauty. I've been in the business for 5 years. This is my first time participating in the Avant-Garde Art & Craft Shows.
I create art to connect to a deeper purpose, I connect with creativity as a joyful experience and appreciate the form and function of nature in ceramic art. I graduated from CCAD with a degree in fine art oil painting, but always wanted to explore ceramics.

As a child,  I would always turn to art as an important process in my life. I love the act of playing with clay. I write down a lot of ideas, set goals for production and just go for it.
I recently built a ceramic studio on my property in Chagrin Falls to have a better space to create. I look forward to launching a website where I can focus on shipping my work all over the county.

The message behind my work is that beauty is everywhere!

Meet Jen Ertle from Honeybee Hobby...
My name is Jen and I am a nurse by trade; I currently work part time as a nurse educator and I also have two little ones at home! My husband recognized that I needed a little get away/a hobby so he got me a Cricut a little over a year ago and I have been creating ever since!
I have been working on my items for a little over a year. I started out making ornaments and now I don’t make those at all! I have transitioned to wooden gift tags (which I love creating and making!), wooden wine charms for all four seasons, and now small felt flower pots to go with little memory jars and journals- the perfect gift for anyone!
This will be my first Avant-Garde show! When I feel stressed, I work on this hobby. It helps me calm my mind and focus on something. It also gives me a quick getaway from the busy hustle and bustle of family life.

I got into this because I needed a hobby/something to do :)
I worked through many different phases of what I wanted to create! I actually found the gift tags by accident when trying to create ornaments and decided it would be cool to create these gift tags. The best part about them is that you can write on the back- no need for searching endlessly for a card anymore and they are perfect for any occasion.

I tend to have ideas here and there; I look up inspiration and images and work to create things I would use and what I think others can use. I also love that the things I make are different from what most people make.
In five years, I hope I'm continuing to create crafts and enjoy this hobby. I would love to continue sharing my craft with others!

I love using my crafting/creating to work through stressful situations. I feel that mental health is incredibly important yet often stigmatized in the world today. That is one of the reasons I created my gift baskets- a great little gift idea which includes a handmade journal with fun stickers to help people keep track of whatever they want (gratitude, vacations, baby’s milestones, new home ideas, etc.) while having a little flower pot to brighten their day, and the tiny memory jars can be used to write down memories and pull them back out during stressful times. I like to think of it as a mood booster pack! Nothing beats paper and pen and a little fun color :)
