Ready to Kick Cabin Fever??

Meet David and Kelly Mansi from Jewelry Art by Kelly...
Hello there! I'm Kelly Mansi, owner of Jewelry Art by Kelly. When I'm not making art, I am a wife and mother of two adult children one of which is married. Leading ministries at our local church is also important to me. Two fur babies (cats) round out the household. Jewelry Art by Kelly began as a hobby which I enjoyed so much that I realized to support it, I needed to sell some pieces of my artwork. Friends saw the pieces and bought them and told their friends and the business took off! Now I get to keep making my own creations as well as work with clients to make art out of their own heirloom jewelry. It’s about the beauty of memories! I specialize in one of a kind pieces of art made mainly from jewelry with a history. I love challenges and creating beautiful pieces. When I work with pieces of jewelry, I love to see how a picture comes together as I fit each special piece together. Each work of art takes a few hours to complete. I go to my “happy place” when I am designing. Currently, making bouquets, freeform collages, trees, and couture women silhouettes are my favorite!
Jewelry is always connected to a memory. Family members present and past, milestones like weddings, and special moments are a few events we want to remember. I enjoy working with clients who want to preserve these memories and enjoy seeing them everyday. No more hiding precious jewelry in boxes and drawers! If you have jewelry from a loved one or gathered over time from the family, you can have it made into a special, one of a kind picture. One of my recent pieces included 4 generations of jewelry and memories.
I love to hunt for vintage jewelry, gather a little bit of modern and make magic happen. Since the majority of my artwork is made from jewelry with a history, you may see imperfections in the jewelry. This adds to the uniqueness and character of the final piece. I frame all my jewelry art pictures in a shadow box in order to give the jewelry protection and lasting enjoyment. Explore my Facebook page Jewelry Art by Kelly to look at my pieces and see what is available for purchase. You can also contact me via messenger or my email mansifamily@hotmail.com if you are interested in purchasing a piece or having a piece of jewelry art made just for you! I love to attend juried shows like Avant-Garde Art & Craft Shows. When you walk into one of the shows, you will see unique, hand-made works of art. You will enjoy a multitude of quality options to give to others as well as to make your own home beautiful.

Meet Marissa Barnhart from EmByMarissa...
I’ve always been artsy and crafty, but I never considered selling my work until I began creating daily. I was going through a rut in life — I was recently graduated from college and having difficulty finding jobs in my field, and I was feeling really disheartened. I usually turned to writing or drawing, but I had developed carpal tunnel in my hands, and it was affecting several areas of my life. My happiness has always been linked to my creativity, and I was feeling stunted and frustrated. When I discovered fluid art, my creativity was reignited.
This is an artform that’s not only fun to do and mesmerizing to look at, but also is easy on my hands. And I can create more often. I’ve been painting and selling as emByMarissa for nearly a year. Art has been an escape for me since I was young. I’m only 25, but I’ve experienced a lot of hardship. Growing up, I was subjected to abuse, domestic violence and, for a while, poverty. Those experiences led to a lot of anxiety and depression throughout my adolescence and adult life. Creating is my therapy. It’s how I heal my soul. Whenever things start to pile up and feel like too much, art saves me. It’s one of the biggest blessings in my life, and I hope I can bring joy and some form of healing for people who enjoy my work. I’ve always been fascinated by how things are made, and I have to try it for myself. From painting to paper quilling to sculpting to knitting, there are few art and crafts I haven’t tried. And because it’s cathartic for me, I keep going and continue exploring new art forms. I’ve recently added more resin art to my inventory, and I’m excited to introduce my new pieces. This will be my first show with the Avant-Garde Art & Craft Shows, and I can’t think of a better place to showcase my work.
In the future, I would love to open an art studio and hold classes and dedicate time for art students and other artists to work in a safe space. One thing I hear a lot is “I’m not artistic; I could never do that.” I’m a strong believer that if someone is passionate enough about something, even if it currently requires skills that aren’t currently in their toolbox, they can develop those skills and become an expert. There’s nothing that people can’t learn. Trial, error, determination and an open mind are key. I want to create a space where I can continue my own art journey while also encouraging and promoting others. If you’d like to see more or shop my art, please visit embymarissa.etsy.com!

Meet Gina Dean from Mamma G's Gourmet Caramel Corn...
My name is Gina Dean owner of Mamma G's Gourmet Caramel Corn. I am a mother of 4 who recently went through a divorce and needed to figure out a way to support myself and still keep the time for my children that I wanted and needed. I started my Business November 2018 although I had done a few crafts shows years prior. This show will be my first Avant-Garde show. I look forward to showcasing my product and meeting other like minded creators.
My children are my inspiration behind my Caramel creations. I love to take all the goodies I make for my them and turn them into caramel corn. I have always loved to create things and cook I just put my own twist on it to make my creations unique. I discovered that people love delicious and unique homemade items so I just added that uniqueness to my caramel corn. My love to cook and create is where I get my inspiration. My children, family, and friends also given me ideas and suggestions that I then figure out how to turn into caramel corn goodies.

I hope to become a household name known for my delicious unique caramel creations. I have been showcased at Duma Meat's Market in Mogadore Nov-Dec. you can also find my product at Erie Island Coffee shop in Rootstown. I have my first wedding shower coming in May along with all the shows I am doing. My message to everyone is it's never to late to follow your dreams. If you do what you love the sky is the limit!

Meet Kristen Walker from ART by WAKA...
I have been teaching special education for 7 years, 6 of which have been in preschool. I am passionate about the work that I do with my students as well as my artwork. I try to find opportunities to share art and creative expression with them as often as possible. I have been painting for over 10 years but began my business within the last year. This is my first Avant-Garde Art&Craft show.
In general, I like to think that I see the world with an artistic eye. I tend to notice the details of colors, shadows, textures, angles, etc. in most things that I see and often imagine how I would create a painting of what I'm looking at. Specifically, the inspiration for my custom pet portraits comes from the love that I have for my own dog, Roxanne. She and I have a close bond and my very first pet portrait was of her. Drawing and painting have been life long hobbies of mine. I can remember keeping sketch books filled with drawings of animals and landscapes even as a child.
My real talent was discovered thanks to my high school art teacher, Miss Curry. After I finished my very first painting in my very first class with her, she said to me, "You're going to be an artist whether you like it or not." I guess I ran with that. The process is similar for all of my work. I choose the subject, make a decision about the layout, and begin the painting. I start with a sketch of undertones, adding layers of color as I work. In 5 year, I hope to continue making artwork for others to enjoy. It is a special thing for me to be able to share art with others, especially when the subject holds a personal meaning.

The message behind my art is to love what you see. That flooding feeling that overcomes your chest when you're looking at something or someone that makes you truly happy is what I hope to achieve through my art.
